Buddhism Essay - 765 Words

The followers of the Buddha believe life goes on and on in many reincarnations or rebirths. The eternal hope for all followers of Buddha is that through reincarnation one comes back into successively better lives - until one achieves the goal of being free from pain and suffering and not having to come back again. This wheel of rebirth, known as samsara, goes on forever or until one achieves Nirvana. The Buddhist definition of Nirvana is quot;the highest state of spiritual bliss, as absolute immortality through absorption of the soul into itself, but preserving individualityquot; (Head1 57).nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;Birth is not the beginning and death is not the end. This cycle of life has no beginning and can go on forever†¦show more content†¦The Buddhist in the third stage is ultimately able to put his ego to the side and become pure spirit, having no perception of the material world. This stage requires one to move from perception to non-perception. And so, through many stages of spiritual evolution and numerous reincarnations, the Buddhist reaches the state of Nirvana. The transition from one stage to another, or the progression within a stage is based on the actions of the Buddhist. All actions are simply the display of thought, the will of man. This will is caused by character, and character is manufactured from karma. Karma means action or Owing. Any kind of intentional action whether mental, verbal or physical is regarded as karma. All good and bad actions constitute karma. As is the karma, so is the will of the man. A persons karma determines what he deserves and what goals can be achieved. The Buddhists past life actions determine present standing in life and current actions determine the next life, all is determined by the Buddhists karma (Kapleau 20). Buddha developed a doctrine known as the Four Noble Truths based on his experience and inspiration about the nature of life. These truths are the basis for all schools of Buddhism. The fourth truth describes the way to overcome personal desire through the Eightfold Path. Buddha called his path the Middle Way, because it lies between a life of luxury and a life of poverty.Show MoreRelatedBuddhism : Buddhism And Buddhism1009 Words   |  5 Pages Zen Buddhism isn’t exactly a â€Å"religion†, but a way of living. From Freehand Drawing to College Writing Essay Example For Students

From Freehand Drawing to College Writing Essay Guesses freehand drawing course illustrates the value of critical thinking to architecture students, a discipline that can also apply to a college writing course. In a sense, drawing a design is like writing an essay _ Mr.. Henderson regards drawing as a means for architecture to get their thoughts on paper: similarly, writing is a means for college students to express their ideas. The ability to analyze a topic by thinking critically can be greatly benefiting to a students writing. In order to make the drawing to become individuated and fascinating, you have to notice what is unique about this situation, what catches the eye. says Gussy. If all of Guesses students draw their peas as identical spheres, hen they will be unoriginal and missing the point of the lesson. Students in a college writing course are typically assigned to a same topic for their essays: inevitably many of them will form the same ideas or opinions. Critical thinkers pay attention to details and make note of those that are distinctive. When writers utilize this skill to examine their topic, they may find something unique that will make their writings stand out from the rest. Critical thinkers also consider how the details are interrelated to form a main idea. Guesses two-minute figure sketching drills train her students to get a ensue of the whole of what theyre drawing on paper before they begin fussing with details. One of the fundamental things when you approach a site or a piece of paper is to ask yourself, how big is it, what shape is it, and oeuvre are you going to put it? Says Gussy. One of her students drawing is only half-finished, but it is already clear that the head and torso are too large there?s no room for the legs. When writing an essay, having a strong main idea and a well-rounded research that supports the argument helps persuading the reader to agree With you. Concentrating too much on one aspect while ignoring the others is much like raring a big head and forgot about the legs. Imagine the main idea as the skeleton, and the details are the different body parts that make the figure comes together. The details should support and be relevant to the main idea, not stealing the spot light. A good essay doesnt need to have big fancy words. Through critical thinking, one can spark the readers interest with a well-thought idea supported by distinctive details. Whether its a freehand drawing class, college writing course, or even everyday life, thinking critically can improve how we view the world and achieve our goals.

Watergate discussion Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Watergate discussion - Essay Example That is why such incidents occur because the government officials themselves are involved in such a criminal act. Due to this the later presidents such as Clinton and Obama and all the other politicians are being thoroughly investigated in order to avoid any such incidents. There are some people who don’t even bother to vote. This is so because they have seen that most of the presidents just speak and do nothing in favor of the people’s interest. But this doesn’t mean that all the government officials are like this. If I was a voter at that I wouldn’t have voted for a person like him not because I am a non voter but because its really hard to trust a person who committed a serious crime and afterward tried to hide his wrong doing by blaming the other parties. Nixon just to make his political enemy the Democratic Party weak committed such a crime. The opinions of the majority of people would have been similar because no one knows that such incidents will ta ke place or not in the near future so they find it better not to vote for any of the candidates. The impact of the Watergate scandal on the later politicians made them realize the power of the media. They also understood that no matter how much power a Presidents possesses no one is above the constitutional law of equality and in the end Nixon got the result of his criminal act. The politicians then were of the view that it’s better to be clear and truthful to the public regarding all the matters. Now the politicians had a clear-cut view that no person is above the law not even the president himself. During this scandal many lawyers were involved in it so the American Bar Association decided that the lawyers should take a course in professional responsibility which is still exists till date. More over it led to the first amendment of protection of freedom of the
